Election night trackers
Dear Media Partners,
As Election Day 2020 approaches, CalMatters is rolling out embeddable widgets for tracking key races, beginning with the first results on Nov. 3. Partners can copy and paste the embed code(s) for the desired race(s) to publish continuously updated results from the California Secretary of State’s (SOS) office.
We’ll pull data from the SOS every 5-10 minutes until final tallies are counted. Each of the widget cards features a five-minute timer, at the end of which it will update (without reloading the entire page) if needed. Arrows on each card will show where there was movement in the vote since the last update.
Here are examples of how the widget cards will look (these contain dummy data):
US Congress

Presidential

This card is for Prop 14. To make it the card for Prop 15, replace “race=prop|14” with “race=prop|15,” to make it for Prop 22, change it to “race=prop|22,” and do the same for the other propositions.

This card is for District 1’s race. To change it to District 2’s race, change “race=congress|1” to “race=congress|2,” to District 3’s race, change it to “race=congress|3,” and so on.
