Student-led training starts April 5
Student journalists at CSU Fullerton and CSU Long Beach are leading a week-long virtual journalism conference starting April 5. The event, called Next Gen Now, is available for all college students, and will include panels and networking events.
The conference is mostly ran through their Instagram account, @nxtgennow2021. Zoom links and updates will be posted there. DM Kimberly Cruz on Twitter, @kruznews if you would like to attend and do not have access to Instagram.
Here is the schedule:
April 5, 5 p.m.: longform journalism. An in-depth look behind the lens of immersive journalism storytellers.
April 6, all day: social media day. Social media tips will be published on their Instagram page @nxtgennow2021.
April 7, 11 a.m.: on-camera coaching. Students will learn tips on how to perform well on camera and use different techniques to establish their camera presence.
April 8, 4 p.m.: interviewing victims of trauma. Learn how to speak with victims of trauma to tell heartbreaking stories about grief and loss.
April 9, 4 p.m.: covering the border. Learn how how to report safely and cover issues such as human rights violations, immigration, and others.
This is a great opportunity to learn and network with more CSU journalists, and it would be great to attend even one session if you can.
