Our goal is to combine resources to improve our coverage of the California State University system.

I’ve had this idea for around a year, and after a quick conversation with Austin Brumblay of the Daily 49er, who suggested the same wire system at the Associated Collegiate Press convention, we pulled together a quick meeting of CSU student reporters. Bella Ross and Michael Cline of the Daily Aztec, Margherita Beale and Kendra Rivera-Molina of the State Hornet, Marisa Vasquez of the University Times, Sam Underwood of the Runner and Stephanie Zappelli from Mustang News were present at that meeting. We later found Pate McMichael, advisor for the Orion, and added him to this project. Together, we are seven universities of the 23 CSUs, with plenty of room for more.

When you write a story about the CSU system or the local impact of a CSU policy, log in here and send it along, or email it to calstatestudentwire@gmail.com. The article will be published in an email, and posted on this website,  calstatestudentwire.substack.com.

Label it “Free to republish” if you are comfortable with other student papers republishing it, and “For information only” if you aren’t.

Additional resources, interviews and notes can be shared on the Google Drive, which I have personally forwarded you the log-in information for.

We also have a Slack! Email me at the same email to gain access.

Please share this with anyone else you think would be interested in this service, and let me know if you have any more ideas of how we can collaborate.

Best,

We're a collection of CSU student journalists who share copy. All copy on this page is free for other CSU papers to republish. We work to fill each other's gaps in coverage, since we know we can't cover the entire system alone.
